Wearing feather hair extensions is a unique twist on traditional long hair extensions. Using long, thin feathers that either coordinate or contrast with hair either in one area or spread throughout the hair to create a funky original look.
The feather hair extensions are gathered from pen raised birds and sorted, feathers are often from pheasant, peacocks and and roosters. They are trimmed and sorted and while I originally laughed when I found out about them, they can look great, or at least unique!!
Fantastic colors to subdued hues are available to order from specialty sites or a less expensive option would be to order feathers from sites which sell fly fishing materials.
Caring for real hair extensions made from feathers requires very gentle shampoo and conditioning. It is important to not break the main stem and they really won’t need to be brushed.
The feather hair extensions can be clipped in hair extensions or sewn in, however due to their semi delicate condition it may be best to use clips so they may be removed for sleeping and not have to be washed as often.
Whether having long hair extensions from feathers combined with remy hair or simply set in place in clusters or individually they will definitely attract comments!! Many salons offer this service or they may be a do it yourself project.
